We can offer free legal advice on a settlement agreement where your employer has agreed to contribute to your legal costs.
When an employer asks an employee to enter into a settlement agreement the employer knows that the agreement will only be legally binding if the employee obtains independent legal advice. That is why most employers agree to pay a contribution towards their employee’s legal costs.
Employers will usually contribute anything between £350 and £500 plus VAT, sometimes more, towards the cost of a solicitor reviewing the settlement agreement.
So where such a contribution is being offered to you, we will not charge you more than your employer is agreeing to pay. This means that you can effectively receive free legal advice on a settlement agreement.
Settlement agreements are widely used where an employer and employee wish to part company, with the employee agreeing not to pursue an employment claim against the employer in return for the employer making a financial settlement of offering other benefits.
We offer this service nationwide and will be happy to provide a free consultation if you are interested in going ahead.
This offer is made in relation to any compromise agreement; whether it arises following a dispute with your employer (perhaps after a protected conversation) or a redundancy process. We will review the agreement and consider a range of legal factors, such when any financial settlement will be paid to you and the provision of an agreed reference.
This offer does not however include the cost of renegotiating the settlement agreement or redrafting its terms, though we are always happy to provide you with a fee estimate of any additional legal services that should be required.
