Making a breast enlargement claim

Breast enlargement is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures carried out in the UK. However, while most women are satisfied with the outcome of their surgery, a significant minority encounter problems.
The issues we are most commonly asked to advise on include:

  • surgery that has not been performed incorrectly;
  • surgery that fails to comply with your instructions;
  • unsatisfactory aesthetic outcomes;
  • excessive scarring; and
  • infections.

A frequent cause for complaint is that women do not receive sufficient information to enable them to make an informed decision regarding their breast enlargement surgery, including the known risks associated with their surgery.

Another issue is that of fat transfer being used in breast enlargements. Although it is used to create more natural looking breasts, fat resorption can result in asymmetrical breasts often necessitating revision surgery to obtain the desired symmetrical appearance.
