Slee Blackwell recommended by The Legal 500 in its 2024 edition

Slee Blackwell Solicitors have once again been included as a recommended firm in the highly influential guide to the legal profession, The Legal 500.

Our personal injury team, clinical negligence team and — making a new appearance – our contentious probate team have all been ranked in the latest 2024 edition.

Personal injury

Head of our personal injury department James McNally along with partners Elizabeth Duncan and Jasmine Moxey Butler are all named as leading lawyers. James’s reputation as the UK’s pre-eminent dog bite solicitor is highlighted, as is Jasmine’s expertise in this niche area. Elizabeth, described by the Guide as ‘knowledgeable, efficient and professional’, is noted for her work with abuse cases.

The team has received a number of. highly favourable testimonials, including the following:

“James McNally, Elizabeth Duncan, and Jasmine Moxley Butler are three senior and stand-out individuals. Their priority is consistently the client’s well-being and satisfaction, and they always go the extra mile.”

Clinical negligence

Oliver Thorne — described as a ‘shrewd tactician’  — and fellow partner Caroline Webber Brown are featured in the clinical negligence section of the Guide. Caroline’s work in relation to laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy and birth injuries receives special mention.

Testimonials for our clinical negligence team include:

“This is a team which sets a very high bar for client care. They achieve this via clear-eyed empathy, an excellent grasp of the facts and the law in each case, and a truly fearless approach with opponents.”

“Oliver Thorne is a very shrewd tactician and operator on a commercial level. But this is more than matched by his client-care skills and his ability to see through to the essentials in each case.”

“Having worked with Caroline Webber-Brown for years, I cannot think of a lawyer who better combines client care with utter devotion to their cause and to the fight on their behalves.”

Contentious probate

Slee Blackwell’s contentious probate team is described by The Legal 500 as ‘thoroughly knowledgeable‘. Department head Naomi Ireson is recommended for her extensive experience handling TOLATA cases. One of Naomi’s partners in the team, the ‘excellent’ Hayley Bundey, is referred to as a ‘prolific adviser on contentious probate work‘.

The testimonials gathered in this sector are equally as impressive as the other areas of practice, and include the following:

“Naomi Ireson was quite simply perfect!’”

“The strengths of the team is their ability to be thoroughly knowledgeable, stand for no nonsense, and do their absolute best for a client.”

These recommendations from are based months of extensive analysis by an independent research team, and the firms selected are therefore the very best in the UK. This means that when you instruct Slee Blackwell you can do so with complete confidence that you are  in the safest of hands.
