Slee Blackwell Solicitors have been recommended by The Legal 500 2025 edition
Slee Blackwell Solicitors have again been recognised by The Legal 500, with our Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Contentious Probate teams having all received commendation in the 2025 edition.
The Legal 500 is a guide to law firms and solicitors in the UK. Inclusion in the prestigious guide is based on detailed analysis of thousands of interviews carried out by independent legal researchers.
For clinical negligence we are described as the “go-to firm” due to our ability to “competently handle complex claims”. Department Head, Oliver Thorne is recognised for his work on birth injury claims, while partner Caroline Webber-Brown is noted for her work on mesh-related litigation. Also mentioned are Senior Associate Clarissa Ellerington, and Trainee CILEx Lawyer, Mia Nicholson who received her first mention in The Legal 500.
Comments from industry colleagues and our clients include:
‘My legal team is Oliver Thorne and Mia Nicholson, they are both amazing at what they do and I wouldn’t want to be dealing with anyone else. Oliver is very informative and is always willing to answer my questions and provide me with everything I need to know and Mia is great at keeping in touch and sending over all relevant paperwork.’
‘I continue to be impressed by the Clinical Negligence team and how they competently handle complex claims. I have heard only positive feedback from claimants when assessing them. I have recommended them to friends in the South West with potential claims as I know they will be in safe hands.’
Our personal injury team also received praise, with The Legal 500 commenting that the team is “best known for its stellar track record in niche areas of personal injury, in particular Animals Act, abuse, and criminal injuries compensation authority claims.”
James McNally continues to hold his title in dog bite injuries, being named “the ultimate expert in dog bite claims”, while Elizabeth Duncan is noted to be “excellent with vulnerable clients”, with her experience in historic sexual abuse cases being recognised. Also included are Jasmine Moxey-Butler, and Carly Sylvester.
Again, we are thrilled to have received some excellent testimonials for our personal injury work, including
‘Excellent with clients. They tread the right line between friendly and professional. Real strength in unusual cases.’
‘James McNally is the ultimate expert in dog bite claims, backed up by knowledge and experience in personal injury matters generally. He goes the extra mile to ensure the best possible result for his clients, and is also personable and approachable.’
‘Elizabeth Duncan is a shining star in the PI firmament of lawyers in the South West. Manages a busy workload with grace under pressure.’
Finally, our expanding Contentious Probate and Trusts team were once again included in the guide, receiving a large number of testimonials. The team is recognised for its great work in this complex legal field, with Naomi Ireson, Lee Dawkins, Hayley Bundey and Chris Holten all being picked out for special mention.
This is just a small selection of the many comments our contested probate team received:
‘The team at Slee Blackwell are hard working, conscientious and go above and beyond for the clients. The solicitors I have worked with are always available should I have any queries and they know their cases inside out. I would have no hesitation recommending them to anybody.’
‘I have worked with Naomi Ireson on a number of cases. All of the cases we have worked on have been organised and considered. Naomi clearly cares deeply about her clients and will go out of her way to reassure them. ’
‘Hayley Bundey has been an actual god sent. She has shown caring, compassion and genuinely helped our situation. The personal touch in our matter has meant the world to us ’
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who took the time to share with The Legal 500 their experiences of dealing with Slee Blackwell.
We remain committed to providing each and every client with a first class service and continuing to commit to excellence across everything we do.
