Oliver & Nick compete in charity golf event

Slee Blackwell partners Nick Arthur and Oliver Thorne recently took part in a Devon golf event for a local charity.

The two Barnstaple based solicitors attended the annual Brian Perks Charity Golf Day on 7 November 2019. The event, which is held at the prestigious Saunton Golf Club in North Devon, was held in aid of Calvert Trust Exmoor. Last year’s competition raised just over £5,000 and this year’s event doubled that amount with £11,500 being raised!

While the weather was awful, team Slee Blackwell’s golf wasn’t, with Oliver and Nick finishing in joint second place with 82 points, but coming third overall on count back.

The Calvert Trust, which is based at Whistlandpound, is a five-star accredited activity centre, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of Exmoor National Park. The award winning centre enables people with physical, learning, behavioural and sensory disabilities to experience exciting, challenging and enjoyable outdoor activities, together with their friends and families.

Calvert Trust Exmoor is a great charity to support and the centre based up on Exmoor is an amazing place”, said Oliver Thorne, who is head of the medical negligence team and based in our Barnstaple office, not far from the centre. “The weather was terrible and it rained nearly all day. However, it was worth it when seeing what the final amount raised was. The day was so well organised, it will be an annual event in the Slee Blackwell calendar from now on!
