Case study of a successful claim for compensation for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Lawyer Carly Sylvester, a winner at the 2023 National Personal Injury Awards, has concluded a successful claim for a wedding coordinator who was injured while at work.
Her client was employed by a wedding venue and made responsible for showing prospective couples around. On the day in question, she had gone outside the venue, and walked along wooden decking to give a couple an unobstructed view of the land, when suddenly, she felt her foot slip out from beneath her, causing her to fall.
In an attempt to brace herself, Carly’s client held her arms out, which cause her right wrist to bear a significant amount of the impact when she landed on the decking.
When the wooden decking was inspected it was found to be wet and very slippery.
The fall had caused her wrist to be fractured. However, while the healthcare professionals anticipated a straightforward recovery the client unfortunately developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
Despite initial apprehension about taking action against her employers, Carly reassured her about the legal process and she decided to proceed with a claim for compensation for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
After submitting the claim to her employers, they accepted legal liability and cooperated in arranging treatment to aid our client’s recovery.
An independent orthopaedic expert prepared a report on her injuries and this led to an out of court settlement of £60,000.
Carly’s client was thrilled with the outcome of the case, stating:
“I highly recommend Carly and cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for me during the year to gain a successful outcome. I really appreciate everything you have done and am very grateful for the time, patience, and advice you have given me.”
