Charity Quiz Evening Raises £1,672 for Little Hero

On 19 November, we were delighted to host our first ever Charity Quiz Evening in support of Little Hero, a remarkable Tiverton-based charity dedicated to helping families affected by childhood cancer. Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of everyone who attended, the event was a tremendous success, raising an impressive £1,672 to support their vital work.

It was truly heartwarming to see so many local businesses come together for such a wonderful cause, and equally uplifting to see so many people gathered in one place for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit. The collective support shown was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community unites behind a mission.

We were especially grateful to welcome John, who took the time to join us on the night and share why Little Hero is so important. His insight into the charity’s work, and the incredible difference they make in the fight against childhood cancer, resonated deeply with everyone in the room.

Little Hero provides families with a peaceful holiday retreat known as Will’s Woodland. This beautifully maintained haven offers a restorative escape away from the crowds and risks of a typical holiday, a place where families can breathe, reconnect, and find comfort during incredibly difficult times. Having visited the site personally, I was moved by how thoughtfully it has been created: outdoor swings, acorn and conker trees, and friendly animals including pigs, donkeys, and chickens all contribute to a warm, calming environment. Each year, 30 to 40 families benefit from this truly special space.

We also want to give very special thanks to those who helped make the evening such a success.

A huge thank you to Colin Carr, Peak Costs, and St John’s Chambers, Bristol, for their generous auction prize donations. Thank you also to No5 Chambers, who kindly donated a prize to the winning team.

We are incredibly grateful to the Tiverton Hotel, who kindly allowed us to use their room free of charge — a gesture that made the whole event possible.

Our gratitude also goes to the many businesses that donated raffle prizes, including:

  • Rare Rose Beauty
  • Debbie Hands Holistic Massage
  • Tiverton Football Club
  • Banbury’s
  • Tiverton Hotel

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended the event. Your support, energy, and generosity helped create a memorable evening, and more importantly, will provide meaningful support to families who need it most.

A special mention must go to our very own Oliver Thorne, who was a phenomenal quiz master for the evening. His energy, humour, and perfectly pitched questions kept the room engaged from start to finish, adding hugely to the atmosphere and enjoyment of the night.

We are incredibly proud to support Little Hero and the vital difference they make within our community. If you would like more information about the charity, you can follow this link Little Hero.
