The cost of making a Will

Our Will making service starts at £170 plus VAT for a standard single Will and £270 plus VAT for standard joint Wills.

What is the cost of making a Will?

Our Will writing service starts from as little as £170 plus VAT for a standard single Will, and just £270 plus VAT for standard joint Wills.

Included within this price is the work necessary to oversee the execution of your Will after it has been prepared to ensure that it is legally valid

Unlike some Will writers, we do not charge any additional fees for storing your Will in our strongroom. We will provide you with a photocopy of the Will for you to keep at home, while the original remains safe and secure, but always accessible.

Married couples often opt for ‘mirror Wills’. These are Wills that compliment each other, with similar provisions included in each document. If you are interested in learning more about mirror Wills (and the important distinction from ‘mutual Wills’) then you can read about them here.

Using qualified solicitors to prepare your Will can avoid both stress and expense at a later date. Failing to make a Will can have serious consequences for your loved ones. And while DIY homemade Wills are an option, they can be a false economy, especially when estates have a value of many tens, or often many hundreds of thousands of pounds.

It is also important to bear in mind that there has been a massive spike in the number of inheritance disputes and contested Wills in the UK over the last decade. It is therefore even more important to make sure that your Will has been professionally prepared by someone who understands the complexities of the law and is able to anticipate potential issues that could impact on your estate after your death. The cost of making a Will pales into insignificance when compared to the costs of dealing with an inheritance dispute.

Our lawyers are always happy to have an initial chat with you free of charge to discuss your requirements, and provide you with written confirmation of our fees. Give us a call on freephone 0333 888 0404 or email us at [email protected]
