Supermarket accident compensation claims

Our award-winning personal injury team deal with supermarket accident claims nationally and are happy to work on a no win, no fee basis.

Supermarket slips, trips and falls

Most supermarket accident claims arise following a slip, trip or fall on the premises.

This usually involves customers, and sometimes staff, slipping on produce or liquids. Trips and falls can also arise where bulky items have been left in the aisles.

Other supermarket accidents

Accidents in supermarkets can also arise when the premises are poorly maintained, including outside areas.

Car parks can present a particular risk to customers, and in one case we recovered £150,000 compensation for a client who was knocked over by a car in a supermarket car park. You can read about that case here.

Defective supermarket equipment can also cause injury. This includes shopping trolleys, store displays and shelving.

The cause of supermarket accidents

Supermarket accidents often arise due to sub-standard cleaning regimes. Supermarkets are required to regularly inspect and clean the aisles, and if they fail to follow an appropriate cleaning system then they are likely to be held legally responsible for any accident that occurs as a result.

The process of cleaning itself must be carried out safely, with excess water removed before people are allowed to use the area again.

We have also dealt with cases where liquids have escaped from faulty fridges and freezers, causing slipping accidents.

Supermarkets should use signs to warn people of potential slipping hazards.
