Devon medical negligence lawyer, Oliver Thorne, who has been specialising in medical negligence law for nearly 10 years, has joined Slee Blackwell Solicitors.
Oliver has a wealth of experience and has been drafted in to assist with an increase in the number of medical negligence cases the firm is handling, both locally and nationally.
Having grown up in North Devon, Oliver lives in Torrington with his wife and 3 children. He is an active member of the local community and is a school governor. Oliver has acted for clients all over the country and has experience of dealing with all types of cases from inquests and orthopaedic claims to complex brain injury and cerebral palsy cases resulting in multi-million pound settlements. Oliver has extensive experience in pursuing cases on behalf of children who had suffered Erb’s palsy following shoulder dystocia and has helped recover over £15m for children who have been affected by cerebral palsy. He also deals with gynaecological injuries and has a particular interest in orthopaedic negligence and cases involving general surgical errors as well as cosmetic surgery.
Oliver Thorne said:
“I am very excited to have joined Slee Blackwell Solicitors. They are an excellent firm with a great reputation, not only in Devon and Somerset but across the country. Cases of medical negligence are on the increase and lawyers are seeing more and more claims of this type. There is great potential in expanding this area of the business and growing the firm’s reputation, both nationally and locally.
Sadly, people are not always happy with the medical treatment they’ve received and whilst we all make mistakes, these can have catastrophic consequences where medical care is concerned. This is when patients require the services of a specialist medical negligence lawyer.
I will be offering sympathetic and pragmatic support to patients throughout Devon, to avoid the need for people to deal with lawyers outside the local area.”
Oliver went on to say:
“As well as obtaining redress for my clients, an important part of my role is to highlight failings in healthcare, working with the medical profession where mistakes are commonplace so that lessons can be learned.”
Lee Dawkins, a litigation partner at Slee Blackwell’s Taunton office, added:
“We are very fortunate to have captured the services of Oliver from another leading firm in South Devon and I welcome him to our expanding clinical negligence team. He is a true specialist in this complex area of law and brings with him valuable know-how and key contacts with the country’s leading medical experts. Oliver has an exceptionally strong local presence and is just what Slee Blackwell Solicitors need to expand this growing area of our business.”
