Our family law team at Slee Blackwell Solicitors understand how overwhelming and emotionally draining divorce can be. It’s not just the personal upheaval — financial uncertainty and mounting legal costs can add more strain to an already difficult time. That’s why we offer a Fixed Fee Divorce Service, designed to give you peace of mind and clarity about your legal costs from the very beginning.
What is a Fixed Fee Divorce?
A fixed fee divorce offers you straightforward, transparent pricing. Rather than being charged by the hour, you pay a single, set fee for clearly defined legal work — so you know exactly what to expect, with no hidden surprises.
This option is ideal if you want to avoid the uncertainty that can come with hourly billing. Our fixed fee structure allows you to budget with confidence, making the divorce process less daunting and more manageable.
Why Choose Fixed Fee Divorce?
Since the introduction of no-fault divorce in April 2022, the process of ending a marriage has become more streamlined, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. We believe that legal advice should reduce your stress, not add to it — and our fixed fee scheme is part of that commitment.
With this service, you’ll have complete clarity about costs and the scope of work involved, so you can focus on what really matters: reaching a resolution and planning your future.
Our Fixed Fee Divorce Costs
We offer highly competitive pricing for uncontested divorces:
- For Applicants (the person starting the divorce): £600 + VAT and disbursements.
- For Respondents (the person responding to the divorce): £325 + VAT and disbursements.
Please note: these fees only cover the legal work undertaken by the lawyer. The court fee of £612 (set by the government) is not included, although fee exemption may apply in certain circumstances. You can read more about court fee exemptions here.
What’s Included in the Fixed Fee?
Our fixed fee package covers the key steps of an uncontested divorce, including:
- An initial consultation with a specialist divorce lawyer to gather all necessary details.
- Completion of your divorce application (once we receive your marriage certificate and the court fee or exemption code).
- Handling all correspondence with the court.
- Tracking deadlines and progressing the divorce, even if your ex fails to respond.
- Preparing and submitting the Conditional Order application.
- Applying for the Final Order at the appropriate time.
- Sending you copies of all court orders for safekeeping.
If a dispute over children or finances arises during the divorce then we will be happy to provide you with an estimate of our charges for dealing with it.
What’s Not Included?
While the fixed fee covers the legal work for a straightforward, uncontested divorce, the following are not included:
- The court fee of £612.
- Obtaining a replacement marriage certificate if required.
- Fees for a process server (used only if your ex-partner is untraceable).
- Legal advice or representation on financial settlements or child arrangements.
- Mediation or collaborative law sessions.
- Court appearances or contested hearings.
- Amendments or re-filing of documents due to client-side changes or errors.
If your case requires additional work beyond the scope of the fixed fee package, we will always discuss this with you in advance — so you remain fully informed at every stage.
