Since its introduction in April 2022, no fault divorce has marked one of the most significant changes to family law in England and Wales for decades. Designed to reduce conflict, the reform has had a profound effect on how couples approach separation.
Now, three years on, the verdict is clear: no-fault divorce has simplified legal proceedings and helped many families move forward with less stress, less hostility, and a greater focus on resolution.
One of the benefits of no fault divorce is that by simplifying the legal process it has made it cheaper and enabled solicitors like ourselves to develop fixed fee packages.
We have two fixed fee divorce packages. One for Applicants at £600 plus court fees and disbursements, and one for Respondents at £325 plus disbursements.
What Is No Fault Divorce?
Under the current law, spouses can apply for divorce without having to assign blame or prove wrongdoing. Instead of citing reasons such as adultery or unreasonable behaviour, the only requirement is that the marriage has broken down irretrievably.
This simple change has taken much of the sting out of what was traditionally an emotionally charged and often contentious legal process.
No fault divorce has often made it easier for couples to focus on practical arrangements such as child care and financial settlements, rather than dwelling on blame. With no need to prove fault, the process is more accessible and less intimidating, especially for those in coercive or emotionally abusive relationships.
For many clients, this has been a welcome shift, allowing them to regain control of their lives and plan for a more stable future.

We offer highly competitive pricing for uncontested divorces:
- For Applicants (the person starting the divorce): £600 + VAT and disbursements.
- For Respondents (the person responding to the divorce): £325 + VAT and disbursements.
These fees only cover the legal work we undertake. The court fee (which is set by the government and is £612, as at April 2025) is not included.
