Making a cow injury claim.
Our specialist cow injury lawyer, Jasmine Moxey-Butler, wrote an article for this website last year about cow attacks. Since then, more unfortunate cases of cows attacking innocent passersby have been reported in the news.
For example, a retired council worker, Mr Evans, was sadly killed by a cow which had escaped during a livestock market event in Wales. Due to the lack of a cattle grid being present, the agitated cow was able to escape into the town and chanced upon Mr Evans who was crossing the road. Mr Evans was struck by the cow, and later died in hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Previously, a woman who was on a family holiday in Northumberland, chanced upon a herd of around 16 cows being moved. While her family were thankfully able to escape by climbing a barbed wire fence, she was trapped next to a gate and charged several times by a cow. It threw her over the gate where she landed face down and later died in hospital as a result of her injuries. Following an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive, the farmers were fined £72,500 and ordered to pay £34,700 costs in December of 2023.
In another case a woman walking with her partner and dog in Sheffield had what was described as a “chance encounter” with a herd of cows. It left her with a fracture to her lower leg and she had to be airlifted to hospital by volunteers.
Cow injury lawyer Jasmine is currently dealing with a number of cases involving individuals who have been injured by cows. In every case her client has been attacked while innocently walking on a public footpath or bridleway. One suffered a fracture to her shoulder and damage to her ribs, whilst another received injuries to his back, ribs, forehead and nose.
