Lawyer Elizabeth Duncan, who specialises in recovering compensation for innocent people who have been injured in a road accident, celebrates National Road Victim Month.
National Road Victim Month is held annually every August to remember those killed or injured on the roads. Five people are killed and more than sixty are seriously injured every day on Britain’s road network.
The Road Victims Trust aims to raise further awareness of the dangers of the road and the risk of road death at the same time as remembering those lost on the road and those they have left behind.

The devastating impact of road accidents is something all too familiar to the lawyers in our award-winning Personal Injury Department.
While we understand and appreciate how vital cars are to our daily lives, but we also see first hand just how devastating it can be when things go wrong on the roads.
Over the rest of this month we will be highlighting some of the road accident cases we have dealt with, including a motorcyclist who suffered a catastrophic bleed to the spleen; a woman who was left permanently disabled; and the beloved mother who died in a fatal road collision. We recognise the terrible impact that road accidents can have on people’s lives and the importance of taking a holistic approach when it comes to securing them the compensation needed to rebuild lives.
Recently, we have been asked to represent two people, both passengers in cars, who have suffered broken necks. In one case the individual has suffered catastrophic injuries involving paralysis from the neck down. Our approach, as always, is to do everything possible to restore the injured person’s life to what it should have been had the accident not happened. Where this is impossible due to the impact of the injuries, then our goal is to enable the person to live as full and independent a life as possible. To achieve this we enlist the support of specialist rehabilitation practitioners and get them working with our clients as early as possible. Where necessary we arrange for them to receive the very best medical treatment (both physical and psychological), as well as taking practical steps to carry out adaptations to homes, organise care packages and everything in between.
