What Does the Harrods Compensation Scheme Offer?

The Harrods redress scheme has been created to compensate those who were sexually abused by Mohamed Al-Fayed during his time as Chairman.

The scheme offers financial compensation, a formal apology, and a trauma-informed alternative to going through the court system.

If you are considering applying under the scheme, our specialist abuse lawyers are here to help — at no cost to you whatsoever. Because Harrods is paying for your legal representation, we are able to guarantee that you will keep 100% of your compensation.

The scheme opened on 31 March 2025 and will close to new applications on 31 March 2026. It allows survivors to receive financial compensation and a personal apology without going through the court system.

Two Pathways for Compensation

  1. The Non-Medical Pathway
For survivors who prefer not to undergo psychiatric assessment:
  • Basic compensation of up to £110,000
  • Aggravated damages of up to £25,000
  • Wrongful testing payment of up to £10,000
  • Past treatment costs of up to £5,000
  1. The Medical Pathway
For survivors with a diagnosed psychiatric injury:
  • Basic compensation of up to £200,000
  • Aggravated damages of up to £25,000
  • Wrongful testing payment of up to £10,000
  • Past and future treatment costs
  • Work Impact Payment of up to £150,000, calculated using a points-based system

Personal Apology

Eligible applicants will be offered both a written and if requested an in-person (or virtual) apology from a senior Harrods representative.

No Risk Appeal Process

If an applicant is unhappy with the compensation offer, they can appeal to an independent barrister. Harrods is bound by the outcome – applicants are not. Legal costs for appeals are also covered by Harrods.
