£110,000 compensation recovered for victim of a cow attack

This is a real-life case study of a successful claim that we made on behalf of a victim of a cow attack whose previous solicitors were unable to progress her case.

Our client, accompanied by her dog Bertie, entered a field while out for a walk. The field’s incline obstructed her view, and after entering, they were unexpectedly stampeded by a herd of cows and their calves. Fearing for her life, our client adopted a foetal position to protect herself. Local residents alerted the emergency services, and she was airlifted to Manchester Royal Infirmary. She underwent major chest surgery and when she was discharged from hospital she continued to require ongoing medical care, including physiotherapy.

Initially, she instructed a different firm of solicitors to pursue a compensation claim against the owner of the field. However, the solicitors advised her that the land owner was not responding to their letters and they were seemingly unable to progress her claim.

Faced with ongoing pain and financial hardship due to her inability to work, she and her husband began searching for specialist solicitors with experience of handling cow attack injury claims. As a result of their research they discovered our team at Slee Blackwell Solicitors. After reading positive reviews of our successes in similar cases, they chose to instruct us to take over the management of the claim.

Jasmine Moxey-Butler took on the case and agreed to work on a no win – no fee basis. She quickly secured the cooperation of the land owner and ensured the matter was transferred to their insurers. Jasmine went on to obtain an admission of liability and negotiated interim payments to provide financial relief to the our client during this challenging time.

We arranged for independent medical experts to assess the severity of her injuries and the long-term impact on her daily life. Jasmine met with her in person to explain the claims process.

Following negotiations, we secured a settlement package of £110,000. This covered ‘pain and suffering’, as well as medical costs and financial expenses.

Jasmine’s client left her a five star review stating:

“Cannot thank Jasmine for her professionalism and kindness whilst dealing with our claim. She went over and beyond to get us an agreeable settlement- cannot recommend her enough – we will miss her somewhat near daily emails.”

Jasmine and her team are highly experienced in dealing with animal injury cases, and you can read this case study of another successful cow injury compensation claim we dealt with.
